Arjo Roersch van der Hoogte has a background in the history of science and works as a Senior Consultant and Project Manager at Uniresearch in the Netherlands. In NEXTBMS, he supports coordinator AIT with the daily project management, including periodic reporting and the organisation of monthly meetings and biannual General Assemblies.
What was your original motivation to become a researcher/project manager?
As a historian of science, I became fascinated in how the collaboration and exchange of knowledge between scientists, commercial companies and government agencies resulted in the creation of successful scientific discoveries, companies and regulatory policies in the field of medicine and pharmaceuticals. This exchange of knowledge between different people is what I also found in my work as consultant and project manager, bringing together European scientists, entrepreneurs and policymakers in European consortia to collaborate in achieving new innovations in the fields of energy and transport.
What is your (main) research area today?
As a historian I am still interested in the histories of companies. But as consultant and project manager I am not anymore involved in research.
What is the main focus of your team in NEXTBMS?
To make sure that the project runs as smooth as possible despite all the changes and deviations which are normal for research projects.
Could you describe your favourite moment/satisfaction when working for the project and – more in general – for your organisation?
The moment when, after a couple of months of hard work a report or project is finalized successfully and all people involved cannot wait to participate in new collaborative projects.
How do you expect NEXTBMS results will affect your organisation and the energy storage sector?
I hope the NEXTBMS project results will benefit the entire sector in that sense that it will bring forward new and better BMS’s which in turn will result in more reliable energy storage systems. For our organisation, I expect the project will bring new changes and new projects.
