NEXTBMS at BEPA 9th Assembly & Brokerage Event in Barcelona

On November 28, Alessio Lodge from TNO proudly represented the NEXTBMS consortium at the BEPA General Assembly and Brokerage Event in Barcelona. The event provided an excellent platform for showcasing some of the groundbreaking research on physics-based modeling for Battery Management System (BMS) functionalities. These innovative approaches form the backbone of NEXTBMS’s ambition to develop a next-generation BMS that integrates cloud computing, advanced physics-based modeling, and artificial intelligence (AI) to optimize battery performance and extend lifespan.

During the event, Alessio presented the consortium’s latest advancements in the modeling of battery behavior, demonstrating how these new techniques can be applied to improve the efficiency and safety of BMS systems. The research aims to not only enhance the accuracy of battery state-of-charge and state-of-health estimations but also to drive real-time, adaptive decision-making within BMS systems, ensuring maximum battery utilization in various applications.

A key highlight of the event was the pitch and Q&A session on the research direction. The session, attended by industry experts, investors, and academic professionals, led to engaging discussions on the potential impact of these advanced technologies on industries such as electric mobility, energy storage, and beyond.

The brokerage event also facilitated networking opportunities, fostering collaborations between different sectors and exploring ways to bring the NEXTBMS vision to life.
